Compare Adult, Child and Senior Rates
Protected areas commonly distinguish South African residents, SADC nationals and international visitors, in addition to adult and child rates. Identification is normally required to claim the resident rate. Pensioner concessions exist at some sites but are not universal.
Free and Low-Cost Options
Many municipal reserves, promenades and public open spaces carry no entrance fee at all, and several national parks hold free-entry days once a year. Where a site charges per vehicle, sharing transport reduces the cost per person substantially.
How Ticket and Entry Fees Differ
Entry to a reserve and access to a specific feature inside it are usually priced separately. A gorge lift, cableway, boat trip or guided walk is an activity fee on top of the conservation fee, not a substitute for it.
