Atlantis Dunes is permit-controlled rather than ticketed — you cannot simply pay at a gate and drive in. Most visitors arrive on a guided tour, and those run from roughly R950 to R1,100 per person with the dune permit included.
The dunes are north of Cape Town near Atlantis, used for quad biking, 4×4 driving, sandboarding and photographic and film shoots.

The Permit Is the Point
Reported permit-only figures around R200 circulate, but the dunes are managed access: a permit office issues them and conditions apply to vehicles and activities. If you are booking a tour, the permit is already in the price — you should not be charged separately at the dunes.
This Is Not a Casual Walk-In
Unlike a municipal park, there is no general public entrance fee for a stroll. Access is tied to a permitted activity, and turning up without arrangement is not the way in.
