South African residents aged over 60 enter Kirstenbosch free on Tuesdays, on production of ID, except on public holidays. There is no reduced pensioner rate on other days — outside Tuesdays a pensioner pays the standard R110 resident rate.

It Is a Day, Not a Discount Card
This is the point most people get wrong. Kirstenbosch does not issue a pensioner discount card or a reduced year-round rate. The concession is free entry on one weekday, so the saving depends entirely on visiting on a Tuesday.
Proof Required
You need South African ID showing you are 60 or over, and you must be a South African resident. The concession is not extended to international or SADC visitors over 60.
If You Cannot Visit on a Tuesday
