The Kirstenbosch entrance fee is R110 for South African and SADC residents with ID, and R270 for international visitors from outside Africa. Children aged 6 to 17 pay R40 and under-6s enter free. These are the 2026–2027 rates published by SANBI.

Free Entry for Pensioners on Tuesdays
South African residents over 60 enter free on Tuesdays, except on public holidays, on production of ID. This is a weekly concession rather than a discount card, and it is the single largest saving available at Kirstenbosch.
Members and BotSoc
SANBI members enter free, excluding special events. BotSoc life members and their guests also enter free. If you visit national gardens several times a year, annual membership is usually cheaper than repeat day tickets.
Cash Is No Longer Accepted
Kirstenbosch no longer accepts cash payments. Tickets must be bought online through Webtickets or paid by card. Arriving with cash only is now a reason you will not get in.

What the Fee Covers
The entrance fee covers access to the garden and the conservatory. Concerts, guided tours and the Boomslang canopy walkway events are ticketed separately — a concert ticket is not a garden day ticket.
