SANBI does not publish a single national entrance fee — each garden sets its own. Kirstenbosch charges R110 for South African and SADC residents and R270 for international visitors, while Pretoria charges R80 to R100 depending on season.

Published SANBI Garden Day Rates

Garden Adult day rate Notes
Kirstenbosch R110 SA/SADC, R150 African nationals, R270 international Children 6–17 R40, students R60
Pretoria NBG R100 peak (Sep–Mar), R80 off-peak (Apr–Aug) Students R50/R45, children R30

Not Every Garden Publishes a Day Rate

SANBI’s information pages for several gardens — including Walter Sisulu and Harold Porter — show annual membership pricing but no daily gate fee. For those gardens the current day rate appears at checkout on Webtickets or at the gate. Do not mistake the membership figures for a day rate: an R650 or R800 number on a SANBI garden page is a year’s membership, not one visit.

Pricing by Residency

Kirstenbosch prices in four bands — South African and SADC residents, African nationals, international visitors and students — all requiring ID or a student card. Pretoria instead prices by season with no residency split. There is no uniform SANBI rule.
