The Marais Dam is situated within the Rietvlei Nature Reserve near Pretoria, South Africa. Entrance to the reserve is required to access the Marais Dam area. The entrance fee for Rietvlei Nature Reserve is R55 per adult, R20 for children (ages 6–16), and free for children under 5. Senior citizens (over 60) and the disabled pay R20. Access to the angling area is an additional R40[6].
At the Marais Dam picnic area inside the reserve, visitors can enjoy picnic facilities, birdwatching hides, ablution blocks, and braai (barbecue) spots. The reserve is open for day visitors, with operating hours from 6 AM to 5 PM in summer[6].
