Boulders Beach

Boulders Beach is a sheltered beach made up of inlets between granite boulders, from which the name originated. It is located on the Cape Peninsula, in Simon’s Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is also commonly known as Boulders Bay.

How much is Boulders Beach entry fee?

R152 for adults

The Boulders Beach entrance fee is R152 for adults and R76 for children for foreign individuals. For South African citizens, it is R39 and R20 respectively, and for SADC nationals, the price is R76 and R39. Most of this collection is donated towards the conversation of this rare breed of African penguins.

Can you touch the penguins at Boulders Beach?

When you’re in the water (which is usually extremely cold), there’s every chance you’ll be swimming among penguins; nowadays they’re reasonably habituated to humans and will let you get quite close. Touching them, however, is forbidden and given that these are wild animals it’s only fair to leave them in peace.

What is Boulders Beach known for?

African penguins

It is a popular tourist spot because of a colony of African penguins which settled there in 1982. Boulders Beach forms part of the Table Mountain National Park. These African penguins are only found on the coastlines of Southern Africa (South Africa and Namibia). These penguins are currently endangered.

Can you walk on Boulders Beach?

However you are allowed onto the public Boulders Beach a 10 minute walk from Foxy Beach which is accessed by a boardwalk called Willis Walk. Included with your ticket is the separate fee to enter Boulders Beach where you can go swimming.
