Is There an Entrance Fee at Kruger National Park

Is There an Entrance Fee at Kruger National Park?

Short answer: Yes. Every person entering Kruger National Park pays a daily conservation (entrance) fee — unless they hold a valid SANParks Wild Card that covers their visit. There’s also a small non-refundable booking/administration fee for pre-booked day visits. (SANParks)

What the fees are (current tariff period)

For the tariff period 1 November 2025 – 31 October 2026 SANParks lists the Kruger daily conservation fees as follows:

  • South African citizens & residents (with ID): Adult (12+) R134 · Child (2–11) R67.
  • SADC nationals (with passport): Adult R275 · Child R137.
  • International visitors (non-SA): Adult R602 · Child R300.
  • Infants under 2 years: Free (child/infant rules apply as per SANParks). (SANParks)

Administration / booking fee for day visitors

If you pre-book a day visit online there is a non-refundable administration/booking fee charged in addition to the conservation fee. SANParks/official coverage lists this fee (recent examples show R59 per adult and R29 per child for day visits) — it applies to advance day bookings (including to some Wild Card holders who pre-book). (SANParks)

How and when you pay

  • Day visitors: conservation fees (and the admin booking fee if you pre-book) are payable when booking or at the gate as instructed by the SANParks booking system. Pre-booked visits must be paid on or before the deposit due date. (SANParks)
  • Overnight guests: conservation fees for each person are normally collected at camp reception on check-in (the receipt/permit is required when exiting). (SANParks)

Wild Card and exemptions

SANParks’ Wild Card (annual access card) grants unlimited access to participating parks for the card period; Wild Card holders do not pay daily conservation fees where the card applies — though admin/booking fees for advance day bookings may still apply. Wild Card pricing and options are available from SANParks. (SANParks)

ID and documentation

To qualify for discounted South African or SADC rates you must present the required ID (South African ID, passport, or relevant residency documentation) for every person in the vehicle — failure to produce valid ID may result in being charged the standard (international) rate. (SANParks)

Practical tips

  • Check SANParks’ official Kruger — Rates & Entry Fees page and the current tariff PDF before you travel because SANParks updates fee periods annually. (SANParks)
  • If you plan multiple visits in 12 months, compare total day fees vs a Wild Card — the Wild Card can be good value for frequent visitors. (SANParks)
  • Keep receipts/exit permits safe — you may need them when leaving the park. (Kruger National Park)
