To enter the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, visitors must pay a vehicle entry fee and a per-person fee, with updated rates effective 1 January 2025. The fees are as follows:
- Vehicle entry fee: ZAR 350.00 per vehicle per entry[2] (some sources mention ZAR 360.00[1]).
- Per person fee: ZAR 160.00 per person per entry[2] (previously ZAR 150.00[1]).
These fees are generally payable at the gate by credit card[1]. They are once-off for each entry and apply to guests arriving by self-drive or road transfer.
Additionally, all guests are required to pay a conservation levy (often called the Guest Conservation Contribution or Conservation Levy). For most lodges, this fee applies for up to the first three nights and is generally calculated as:
- ZAR 310.00 per person per night (inclusive of VAT) for most lodging categories[2].
- This supports conservation programs, anti-poaching initiatives, and community projects within the reserve[1].
Some lodges may include the gate and conservation fees in their overall rates, but many list them separately and require payment at the gate or at checkout. Please check directly with your chosen lodge or booking platform to confirm how these fees apply to your booking.
