Cape Town SANParks Entrance Fees 2026

If you are planning a Cape Town national park day out, the main SANParks paid sites most visitors care about are Cape PointBoulders Beach Penguin Colony, and a few smaller Table Mountain National Park pay points such as SilvermineTokaiOudekraal and Newlands. The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is a separate paid attraction with its own ticket prices.

Table Mountain entrance fee: cableway vs park entry

This is where many visitors get confused. SANParks lists the main Table Mountain National Park pay points as Cape Point, Boulders, Silvermine, Tokai and Oudekraal, while the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is shown separately because it is independently operated and uses its own ticket structure. In practice, when most people search for the “Table Mountain entrance fee”, they usually mean the cableway ticket price

Current official cableway ticket rates apply from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026

Cape Point entrance fee

Cape Point is the highest-value SANParks fee page in the Cape Town cluster because it combines strong tourist intent with clear resident, SADC and international pricing. The current official rate is R110 for South African adults and R55 for South African children, with higher SADC and international rates shown above. Cape Point and Boulders are both cash-free, and SANParks says one payment per vehicle is taken at Cape Point rather than separate person-by-person payments at the gate.

For South Africans, the most important practical point is that the local rate must be claimed on arrival before entry, and proof of ID must be shown. SANParks accepts a valid SA ID, driver’s licence with SA ID number, or South African passport with SA ID number.

Boulders Beach Penguin Colony entrance fee

Boulders Beach uses the Table Mountain National Park conservation fee structure, but at a lower rate than Cape Point. The current official fee is R55 for South African adults and R26 for South African children, while SADC and international visitors pay the higher rates shown in the table above. Boulders is one of the most searched Cape Town SANParks attractions because visitors want to know the penguin colony fee before building a Cape Peninsula day plan.

Other Cape Town SANParks pay points

Beyond Cape Point and Boulders, Table Mountain National Park also lists Newlands, Oudekraal, Silvermine and Tokai Picnic & Braai Area as paid TMNP sites. These are useful to include on this cluster page because they strengthen the page’s Cape Town SANParks topical authority and help capture broader “Cape Town SANParks entrance fees” intent. All four currently use the same fee structure shown above.

Does the Wild Card cover Cape Town SANParks attractions?

Yes, a valid Wild Card can be used instead of paying daily conservation fees at Table Mountain National Park gates. SANParks says visitors to TMNP may either pay the daily conservation fee or enter with a valid Wild Card, and the TMNP Wild Card page says visitors to the park may enter with their valid Wild Card or TMNP My Green Card.

At the gate, SANParks says you must present a paper or electronic copy of your membership letter. The gates no longer accept the old plastic Wild Cards.

What the Wild Card does not cover is the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway. The cableway is listed separately by SANParks and is independently operated with its own ticket prices

How to book Cape Town SANParks tickets

SANParks says Cape Point and Boulders Beach gate tickets can be bought online in advance through the SANParks gate ticket system. You need a SANParks account to do that.

For the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, the official site says online tickets are valid when bought through Webticketsand recognised partner outlets only.

Important things to know before you go

Cape Point and Boulders are card-only gates, so do not arrive expecting to pay cash. SANParks also says the standard rate is applied automatically unless South Africans claim the local rate on arrival before entering. That makes ID one of the most important things to carry on the day.

It is also worth separating three different Cape Town cost questions before you visit:

  1. Cape Point fee = SANParks conservation fee
  2. Boulders fee = SANParks conservation fee
  3. Table Mountain cableway = separate private ticket price

Treating them as separate costs makes this page much clearer for visitors planning a Cape Peninsula trip.

Cape Peninsula day-trip cost examples

A simple Cape Peninsula cost example for two South African adults is:

  • Cape Point: R220
  • Boulders Beach: R110
  • Total: R330

For a South African family of four with two adults and two children:

  • Cape Point: R330
  • Boulders Beach: R162
  • Total: R492

If that same family also adds Table Mountain Aerial Cableway online return tickets, the extra cableway cost is R1,350, bringing the combined total to R1,842. These totals are based on the current official 2025/26 SANParks and cableway rate tables.

Is Cape Town SANParks worth it?

For most visitors, yes. Cape Town’s SANParks sites cover very different experiences: Cape Point for big scenic drives and coastal views, Boulders for the penguin colony, and Silvermine/Tokai/Oudekraal for lower-cost outdoor day trips. This cluster page works best when it helps visitors quickly separate the park conservation fee from the Table Mountain cableway ticket, because that is the main source of confusion in this topic.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Cape Point entrance fee in 2026?

The current official Cape Point fee is R110 for South African adults and R55 for South African children. SADC and international visitors pay different rates. These rates apply from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026

How much is Boulders Beach entrance fee in 2026?

The current official Boulders fee is R55 for South African adults and R26 for South African children. SADC and international visitors pay higher rates.

Does the Wild Card include Table Mountain cableway?

No. The Wild Card covers qualifying SANParks daily conservation fees at Table Mountain National Park sites, but the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is separately operated and charges its own ticket prices.

Can you pay cash at Cape Point or Boulders?

No. SANParks says Cape Point and Boulders Gates are cash-free and only accept debit and credit card payments.

Can you book Cape Point and Boulders tickets online?

Yes. SANParks says Cape Point and Boulders Beach are available through its online gate ticket system, and you need a SANParks account to purchase tickets in advance.

Is Table Mountain free to hike?

The official TMNP pay-point list focuses on Cape Point, Boulders, Silvermine, Tokai and Oudekraal, while the Aerial Cableway is listed separately. That means many Table Mountain hiking visits are not treated like a normal SANParks gate ticket in the same way Cape Point or Boulders are. Always check your exact route and follow SANParks hiking safety guidance before going.

Prices, rules and access arrangements can change. Before visiting, confirm the latest official details with SANParks and the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway.
