Apartheid Museum Entrance Fee

The Apartheid Museum entrance fee is R170 for South African citizens with ID and R240 for international visitors. Students, pensioners and children pay R120 as South Africans or R190 as international visitors. These rates took effect on 1 May 2026.

The museum prices by nationality and offers a slightly more expensive guided-tour version of each ticket.

Note that SADC nationals are charged the international rate here, unlike at national parks and botanical gardens where SADC residents usually pay close to the local rate.

Proof Required

South African rate: valid South African ID at the point of purchase
Pensioner rate: ID proving age 60 or over
Student rate: valid student card
Child rate: ages 7 to 17

School Groups

Pre-booked school groups of 15 or more pay R60 per learner and R70 per educator. Bookings require four to six weeks’ notice.

Age Guidance

The museum states its content is unsuitable for children under 11. The child rate begins at 7, so a ticket being available for a younger child does not mean the exhibition is appropriate for them.

Opening Days and Times

Open Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 to 17:00, and on most public holidays. Closed Mondays.

Reduced tour-operator rates and Red Bus tour rates are available on production of a booking receipt.
